Epos is devoted to epic and ancient literature; in particular the literature of the Ancient Near East, Greece, Rome, and Medieval Europe.

This site is produced by me, Mark Alterman, and my students at LCC International University. We are studying Epic Poetry during a summer term. The students will be posting some of their essays online. Other readers are welcome to look over their shoulders while they learn, or even add a comment or two. The “Lessons” come from notes prepared by me and Nancy Swihart.

Most of the students here use English as a second or third language. Sometimes their English syntax is not perfect–they are working on that–but they may still have some interesting insights.
